Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 10, 2026
In this policy, we lay out: what data we collect and why; how your data is handled; and your rights with respect to your data. We never sell your data.
This policy applies to all products built and maintained by Shiny Pebble Tech LLC, including Data Raven (the "Services").
This policy applies to our handling of information about site visitors, prospective customers, and customers and authorized users. We refer collectively to these categories of individuals as "you" throughout this policy.
What we collect and why
Our guiding principle is to collect only what we need. Here's what that means in practice:
Identity and access
When you sign up for Data Raven, we ask for identifying information such as your name and email address. That's so you can personalize your new account, and we can send you product updates and other essential information. We may also send you optional surveys from time to time to help us understand how you use our products and to make improvements.
We'll never sell your personal information to third parties, and we won't use your name or company in marketing statements without your permission.
Billing information
If you sign up for a paid Data Raven plan, you will be asked to provide your payment information and billing address. Credit card information is submitted directly to our payment processor (Polar.sh) and doesn't hit Data Raven servers. We store a record of the payment transaction, including the last 4 digits of the credit card number, for purposes of account history, invoicing, and billing support. We store your billing address so we can charge you for service, calculate any sales tax due, send you invoices, and detect fraudulent credit card transactions.
Product interactions
We store on our servers the configuration data you create in your Data Raven account. This includes:
- Transfer job configurations (source, destination, filters, schedules)
- Connection references (pointers to your vault integrations or encrypted credential metadata)
- Team and user settings
- Transfer logs and history
We keep this configuration data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we'll delete the data within 60 days.
Geolocation data
We log the full IP address used to sign up for an account and retain that for use in mitigating future spammy signups. We also log all account access by full IP address for security and fraud prevention purposes, and we keep this login data for as long as your account is active.
Website interactions
We collect information about your browsing activity for analytics and statistical purposes such as conversion rate testing and experimenting with new product designs. This includes, for example, your browser and operating system versions, your IP address, which web pages you visited and how long they took to load, and which website referred you to us.
Voluntary correspondence
When you email Data Raven with a question or to ask for help, we keep that correspondence, including your email address, so that we have a history of past correspondence to reference if you reach out in the future.
What we explicitly do NOT collect
This section is critical to understanding Data Raven's privacy model.
Your cloud storage data
Data Raven never stores, caches, logs, or retains any of your actual cloud storage data. When you run a transfer job, your data flows directly between your cloud storage providers. Our service orchestrates and monitors the transfer, but your files never touch our servers or storage systems.
Your cloud storage credentials (with third-party vaults)
When you use a third-party vault integration (1Password, Doppler, or Infisical), we never see your actual cloud storage credentials. We only store a reference pointer to your vault, and credentials are fetched on-demand during transfer execution. You can revoke access at any time from your vault provider.
Your cloud storage credentials (with native vault)
When you use our native vault option, credentials are encrypted using AWS Parameter Store SecureString with enterprise-grade encryption. Strict access controls are in place: credentials are only decrypted by isolated worker processes during transfer execution and are never accessible to staff. All access is logged and audited.
AI training data
Your data is never used as input for AI models. Data Raven does not use any AI integrations whatsoever. We don't train models, we don't send data to AI services, and we don't use AI for any purpose.
When we access or disclose your information
To provide products or services you've requested
We use third-party subprocessors to help run our applications and provide the Services to you. See the Subprocessors section for details.
Staff access policy
No Data Raven staff member will ever look at your data. We have implemented technical and organizational measures to prevent this from being possible:
- Your cloud storage data never touches our systems
- Third-party vault credentials are fetched directly by isolated worker processes and immediately discarded after use
- Access logs are monitored and audited
- Staff do not have credentials to access your cloud storage
If you contact support, we may access your account configuration (job settings, transfer history, logs) to help troubleshoot issues, but never your actual cloud storage data.
When required under applicable law
Shiny Pebble Tech LLC is a U.S. company with its main data infrastructure located in the U.S.
Requests for user data: Our policy is to not respond to government requests for user data unless we are compelled by legal process or in limited circumstances in the event of an emergency request. However, if U.S. law enforcement authorities have the necessary warrant, criminal subpoena, or court order requiring us to disclose data, we must comply. Likewise, we will only respond to requests from government authorities outside the U.S. if compelled by the U.S. government through procedures outlined in a mutual legal assistance treaty or agreement. It is our policy to notify affected users before we disclose data unless we are legally prohibited from doing so.
Important note: Even if compelled by legal process, we cannot provide your cloud storage data because we don't have it. We can only provide account configuration data, transfer logs, and billing information.
Your rights with respect to your information
At Data Raven, we strive to apply the same data rights to all customers, regardless of their location. These rights include:
- Right to Know: You have the right to know what personal information is collected, used, shared or sold. We outline both the categories and specific bits of data we collect, as well as how they are used, in this privacy policy.
- Right of Access: This includes your right to access the personal information we gather about you, and your right to obtain information about the sharing, storage, security and processing of that information.
- Right to Correction: You have the right to request correction of your personal information.
- Right to Erasure / "To Be Forgotten": This is your right to request that your personal information be erased from our possession and, by extension, from all of our service providers.
- Right to Complain: You have the right to make a complaint regarding our handling of your personal information with the appropriate supervisory authority.
- Right to Restrict Processing: This is your right to request restriction of how and why your personal information is used or processed, including opting out of sale of your personal information. (Again: we never have and never will sell your personal data.)
- Right to Object: You have the right, in certain situations, to object to how or why your personal information is processed.
- Right to Portability: You have the right to receive the personal information we have about you and the right to transmit it to another party.
- Right to not Be Subject to Automated Decision-Making: You have the right to object to and prevent any decision that could have a legal or similarly significant effect on you from being made solely based on automated processes.
- Right to Non-Discrimination: We do not and will not charge you a different amount to use our products, offer you different discounts, or give you a lower level of customer service because you have exercised your data privacy rights.
Many of these rights can be exercised by signing in and updating your account information. If you have questions about exercising these rights or need assistance, please contact us at hi@dataraven.io .
How we secure your data
All data is encrypted via SSL/TLS when transmitted from our servers to your browser. All data stored in our databases is encrypted at rest. Credentials stored in our native vault option are encrypted using AWS SSM Parameter Store SecureString with enterprise-grade encryption.
Security measures include:
- Encryption in transit (TLS/SSL) for all connections
- Encryption at rest for all stored data
- Isolated container execution for each transfer job
- No cross-tenant data access possible by design
- Regular security audits and monitoring
- Infrastructure hosted in SSAE/SOC/PCI/HIPAA compliant datacenter facilities
What happens when you delete your account
If you choose to cancel your account, your configuration data will become immediately inaccessible and will be purged from our systems in full within 60 days.
Remember: Your actual cloud storage data was never on our systems, so there's nothing to delete there. Canceling Data Raven has no effect on your cloud storage accounts.
Data retention
We keep your information for the time necessary for the purposes for which it is processed. The length of time for which we retain information depends on the purposes for which we collected and use it and your choices, after which time we may delete and/or aggregate it.
- Account data: Retained while your account is active, deleted within 60 days of account cancellation
- Transfer logs: Free tier: 30 days. Pro tier: 90 days. After retention period, logs are permanently deleted.
- Billing records: Retained for 7 years for tax and legal compliance
- Support correspondence: Retained for the lifetime of your account plus 2 years
Location of site and data
Our products and other web properties are primarily operated from the United States. If you are located in the European Union, UK, or elsewhere outside of the United States, please be aware that any information you provide to us will be transferred to and stored in the United States. By using our websites or Services and/or providing us with your personal information, you consent to this transfer.

When transferring personal data from the EU
The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) has issued guidance that personal data transferred out of the EU must be treated with the same level of protection that is granted under EU privacy law. UK law provides similar safeguards for UK user data that is transferred out of the UK.
We process data from EU residents under Article 49(1)(b) derogation under GDPR (necessary for the performance of a contract). If you require a Data Processing Addendum with Standard Contractual Clauses, please contact us at hi@dataraven.io .
Changes and questions
We may update this policy as needed to comply with relevant regulations and reflect any new practices. If we make significant changes, we will refresh the date at the top of this page and notify users via email.
